Dr Oz: Use Wine To Clean Vegetables
Dr Oz shared that Kathie Lee and Hoda were joining him on the show to help share 99 new uses for wine. His other creative ideas included sugar and salt, mineral oil, and even jeans. Dr Oz asked them about the craziest thing they’ve ever done with wine that didn’t involve drinking and they didn’t have an answer for him. Dr Oz’s first new use for wine came from Chelsea on Facebook, who shared that you can actually use wine to clean your vegetables. She adds wine to a spray bottle and said it can kill bacteria responsible for food poisoning.
Kathie Lee joked that dirt was good because “we came from dirt and we go to dirt at the end of our lives.” Kathie Lee picked up a cucumber, sprayed it with wine that was in a spray bottle, and then proceeded to take a bite.
Dr Oz: Red Wine For Baking
Next, Dr Oz heard from Maria, who bakes cakes with wine. Maria explained that she used a basic chocolate cake recipe and substituted the sugar with honey. She also added about a cup and a quarter of red wine. They all tried the cake and agreed it was delicious, although they disagreed on the use of the word “moist.”
Dr Oz then finally poured the two women a glass of rose, after they were practically begging for one!
Dr Oz: Wine Foot Bath
Dr Oz then invited Kathie Lee and Hoda to come over, sit down, and try out a wine foot bath. Normally, you might soak your feet in Epsom salt, but this time Dr Oz swore by dipping them into rich wine. The women dipped their feet into the deep red liquid while Dr Oz rubbed their feet. He explained that all the polyphenols in the wine actually help to soothe your feet. Kathie Lee and Hoda seemed to enjoy themselves!
Kathie Lee then explained that a man came up to her and told her she should be in the wine business, to which she said, “Where have you been all my life?” She got in touch with a family who has been in the business for 40 years. Together they picked out wines that are inexpensive and even use a screw top, which makes them convenient as well. The wine is called Gifft and Dr Oz said it was a home run!
Dr Oz shared more uses for wine to complete his list of 99, on his website.
