Dr Oz: Is Honey Better Than Sugar?
Dr Oz loves Honey, and he has found that it could even be a new tool for weight loss. Learn about its caloric content and how you can start using it as a sugar substitute every day.
A viewer participated in this segment, and she admitted that she gets sugar in coffee, oatmeal, and tea. Dr Oz said Honey might be a great substitute for Sugar.

Dr Oz shared the caloric and antioxidant benefits of swapping Sugar for Honey in your daily routine, and the ways you can use Clove Honey for baking.
Honey is good for Weight Loss. Dr Oz said this is new information. This might be a surprising conclusion, especially since Honey has more Calories than Sugar (22 calories per teaspoon vs 16 calories in a teaspoon of sugar).
However, Honey is much sweeter, which means you will use about half as much. That is how you get lower calories!
Dr Oz: How Honey Is Refined
Do you try to avoid processed foods? If so, you might be pleased to learn that Honey is less processed than Sugar. Refined sugar is extracted from plants and bleached in vats to turn it white and crystalline.
During processing, any vitamins, minerals, proteins, and fiber are removed, leaving you with empty calories from Sugar. Honey is also processed, but the work is done by Bees. Honeybees leave the good nutrients behind!
Dr Oz: Raw Honey Antioxidants
Dr Oz said he likes Dark Honey for its antioxidants and the potential to reduce cancer and heart disease. He suggested choosing Raw Honey, which is thicker than what you may be used to, but is full of the nutrients you won’t find in the more heavily processed varieties.
Add some Raw Honey to your favorite warm beverage, or anywhere else you would routinely go for sugar. Don’t forget that you might need just have as much to get the same sweet taste.
Dr Oz: Clove Honey for Baking
Did you know that you can even use Honey in your baking in place of Sugar? Think about using Clove Honey as a sweetening agent in baked goods. Just remember not to feed Raw Honey or Clove Honey to infants or young children, because it can contain bacteria their bodies can’t handle.
