Dr Oz: Golden Milk For Achy Joints
Dr Andrew Weil joined Dr Oz and explained that a lot of people have questions for their doctors and he’s a doctor that knows a lot about different things, so “bring them on!” Dr Oz is pulling questions from everywhere for Dr Weil to answer, starting with a question from Rita. She said she suffers from achy joints but can’t take ibuprofen because it upsets her stomach. She wondered what natural alternatives Dr Weil would suggest.

Dr Oz: Hand Massage To De-Stress
Dr Oz then called Danine down, who shared that she is a single mom and a special education teacher, and she gets very easily stressed. She was wondering if there were holistic ways to de-stress. Dr Weil said the hands are a great way to access the whole system. He suggested that Danine hold out her left hand and massage the area between her thumb and index finger firmly, using the other hand. Then massage each finger upward toward the finger tip, before rubbing the palm firmly in circles.
Then clench your fist for 10 seconds, stretch out your hand for 10 seconds, and then shake out your hands for 10 slow breaths. It’s a great de-stressing technique that takes just a few minutes and is completely free.
Dr Oz: Prevent Diarrhea
Next, Kelsie shared that she sometimes gets diarrhea and it’s not only inconvenient but embarrassing as well. She wanted to know if there was anything she could do to prevent it. Dr Weil said you want to eliminate common GI irritants, a big one of which is caffeine. Another irritant would be dairy products, and the third is artificial sweeteners.
Dr Oz: Diarrhea Remedy
If you’re already experiencing diarrhea, you can combine the following ingredients and then eat the mixture to soothe your gut:
- 1 tbsp carob powder
- 1/2 C applesauce
- honey to taste
Dr Oz: How To Prevent A Hangover
Brynn then came down and said she likes to end her week by going out and having a couple drinks with her friends. But she always wakes up on Saturday mornings with the worst hangover. She wanted to know what a great hangover cure would be. Dr Weil said drinking a lot of water while you’re drinking alcohol can help a lot, and the best cure for a hangover is time.
But you can drink prickly pear cactus juice before you drink alcohol to avoid a hangover. Brynn tasted it and said it actually tastes pretty good.
Dr Oz: Is Sea Salt Healthier? + Iodine Sources
One of Dr Oz’s viewers sent in a video of her saying that she started to use sea salt because she heard it was healthier, but it doesn’t have iodine and she didn’t know if she needed iodine in her diet. Dr Weil explained that iodine is a vital nutrient and important for your thyroid. A lot of people in America are iodine deficient. Dr Weil said he prefers sea salt or kosher salt because it’s additive-free, but you can also get sea salt that has iodine added to it.
He likes to get his iodine from food like sardines, shellfish, or dairy products. If you would prefer a supplemental source, he recommended kelp. Kelp is the best natural source of iodine.
