Dr Oz: The End of Dieting
Do you feel like you are always on a diet? So many people have tried countless plans and programs to lose weight, but Dr Joel Fuhrman said that you have to give up dieting if you want to be thin.
Dr Fuhrman, author of The End of Dieting (which sounds like a diet book to me), said that dieting is dangerous and can leave you worse off than when you started. He said that the goal of weight loss is to keep it off forever, and you want to consider whether your diet is going to increase or decrease your chances of complications such as cancer over time.
Dr Oz: Paleo Diet Vs Mediterranean Diet

Want to put an end to the yo-yo weight? Dr Joel Fuhrman spoke about the tenets from his plan, The End of Dieting, including not counting calories.
Dr Fuhrman said he is concerned about some of the most popular diets out there. The Paleo Diet, according to some studies, could put people at a much greater risk from cancer due to animal fats. It could also be associated with breast cancer.
The Mediterranean Diet is another popular plan, but Dr Joel Fuhrman said all diets have their good and bad points. However, he thinks it relies too much on white flour and olive oil. As for the Wheat Belly diet, he said it’s only bad if you are eating highly refined flour.
Dr Oz: No Calorie Counting + G-BOMBS Foods
Weight loss from a short term diet sounds great, but that weight can return as Visceral Fat, which can raise cholesterol, endanger your organs, and lead to other complications. Dr Fuhrman told Dr Oz that chronic dieting could increase your chances of cancer and diabetes.
The first point of Dr Fuhrman’s new plan is never to count calories. He said that can mess you up by cutting you off from needed nutrients. Instead, he suggested eating foods he calls G-BOMBS.
- G – Green Vegetables (containing ITCs)
- B – Beans (won’t spike insulin; linked to longevity)
- O – Onions (anti-inflammatory)
- M – Mushrooms (hormone benefits)
- B – Berries (powerful in reversing cancer cells)
- S – Seeds (protein-rich and not calorie-absorbent)
Dr Oz: Slow Food Breakfast Meals
Dr Fuhrman also advised that you eat slow foods during breakfast to help manage your appetite throughout the day. Slow foods are better absorbed by the body, burned as energy instead of being stored as fat.
His book includes ideas for Chia Seed Pudding, Whole Wheat Berries, and Apple Pie Oatmeal, which Dr Oz sampled to determine whether the audience might like them.
Dr Oz: Phytochemical Foods
Eat only foods that are high in Phytochemicals. That means choosing nutrient density and colorful foods from every color of the rainbow. Dr Fuhrman said it’s important to have a salad at least once per day. Customize the toppings and make your own dressings to ensure it is healthy and not full of additives and preservatives.
Cabbage Lentil Soup is a great thing to make in a big batch on the weekend so that you can enjoy it throughout the week. Sauteed vegetables with sesame seeds could be another delicious option, and you can eat large quantities of these healthy foods.
