Dr Oz said this is easy to fix, and the first step is determining whether you have this problem. Dr Oz’s medical team tested a sampling of his audience to find answers. By testing their red blood cells, Dr Oz’s team learned that more than half the team was likely to be iron deficient, and more were on the cusp.
Dr Oz: Vegetarian Diet Iron Deficiency
Dr Oz met Jess, one of the women who was deficient. She said she was not surprised by her results. After about 15 years as a Vegetarian, she more recently switched to a Vegan diet. However, she has been taking an Iron supplement.
Jess said that she is tired when she wakes up in the morning. She has not been to a doctor recently, and she presumed that her symptoms were related to her diet.

Are you always feeling cold? That is a sign of Iron Deficiency. One of the most important reasons for this is that you don’t have enough blood flowing to all the parts of your body.
As Iron in your body begins to run down, the body has to prioritize vital organs when it’s figuring out where to send blood. That could make your extremities cold.

Another warning sign is that you hear a whooshing sound in your ears. That pounding sound can be a warning that the heart is working harder to pump blood throughout the body.
Dr Oz: Brittle Nails Iron Deficiency
Brittle nails or fragile nails are the third sign you need to know. If your nails begin to have a concave depression, known as spooning, that is a serious warning from your body.
Dr Oz: Vitamin C + Iron Snacks
Even one of these signs can mean that you are Iron deficient. What should you do? Dr Oz recommended a two-pronged approach of Iron and Vitamin C, for four times the absorption. What are some meal ideas?
