Haylie Pomroy believes your liver is the body’s filter not just for food but for everything else as well, even hormones. She explained when your liver is not functioning properly you feel foggy, fat and fatigued, but the consumption of more proteins will improve your liver’s functioning.
Dr Oz: Cracked Heels a Sign Of Thyroid Problems
Dr. Oz said the thyroid is the key to having a great metabolism. She said it is the thermostat for the body, meaning it regulates the burning of fat and the distribution of hormones. Pomroy added that some of the symptoms of a thyroid problem include poor hair quality, cracked heels and a unique distribution of fat around the body. She said the best way to improve your thyroid function is by eating more complex carbohydrates. As a bonus, they will also boost your metabolism.
Dr Oz: Eating More Fat Burns More Fat
Pomroy said the final building blocks that influence metabolism are muscle and fat. She explained that food is fuel for our bodies and we can use it to burn away fat and increase the amount of muscle we have. While fat will just sit and hang on the body, muscles give you more energy and help burn calories without nearly as much effort.
Pomroy said to lose more fat, you need to eat more fat, which left Dr. Oz looking puzzled. She explained that if you eat the right fats, at the right times, it will stimulate the thyroid and the liver causing you to burn more fat.
