Dr Oz shared that more of his viewers are drinking less dairy, so he wanted to rank the best non-dairy milks. Dr Oz first wanted to look at calcium, and explained that he wanted to look at which non-dairy milk is naturally highest in calcium, not having been fortified with it. Between almond, rice, and soy milk, soy milk is the highest in calcium. Soy milk tends to have 61 mg of calcium, whereas almond and rice milk tend to have 20 mg of calcium.

Soy milk also wins when it comes to protein, because it has about 11 grams per cup, which is double what you get from almond milk. Dr Oz suggested drinking soy milk in the morning to give your metabolism a good kick start. You also want to be sure to choose unsweetened and organic soy milk if you can.

Dr Oz: Best Non-Dairy Milk For Weight Loss

Dr Oz then wanted to look at which non-dairy milk was more beneficial in terms of weight loss. Dr Oz shared that almond milk is actually the best non-dairy milk for weight loss, because it contains just a third of the calories of rice milk. Rice milk contains 90 calories per serving, soy milk contains 80 calories per serving, and almond milk contains just 30 calories per serving.

Dr Oz: Best Non-Dairy Milk For Allergies

The best milk to drink for allergies is actually rice milk, but you should be sure to check the ingredient list and avoid things like xanthan gum. The good news is that rice milk has a similar consistency to skim milk, so it’s not too different. One woman shared that she uses rice milk for everything that she would normally use cow’s milk for.

Dr Oz: Best Tasting Non-Dairy Milk

As for which one tastes best, Dr Oz wanted to use five kids to find out which one was the most delicious. He brought out 9-year-old Dane to reveal the results. According to Dr Oz taste-testers, the best tasting non-dairy milk was soy milk. The picky kids chose the soy milk first, almond milk second, and coconut milk third.
