Dr Oz: Avoid Holiday Weight Gain
Dr. Oz kicked off his show by explaining that he was revealing his Holiday Cheat Sheet that would allow you to cheat your way through the holidays without gaining a pound. His Holiday Cheat Sheet will explain how you can slow down the damaging effects of fat, all while eating your favorite foods this season. Dr. Oz started by talking to comedienne Kim Coles to find out what holiday eating is all about.
Kim talked to random people at a farmers market who said they love mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, and pie. A lot of people talked about the sweets and desserts they enjoy over the holidays. What they like least about the holiday foods is the extra weight you gain after eating all the deliciousness.

Kim then joined Dr. Oz on his show and shared that she’s a stuffing and gravy girl. Dr. Oz said everyone has their favorites, and everyone can eat their favorites, without gaining a pound. He wanted to share what you should eat before and during the holidays to keep the weight off.
Dr Oz: White Tea & Lemon Week Before Holiday
Dr. Oz started by saying that during the week leading up to the holidays, you should drink a white tea with lemon twice a day. You need them both, and it’s like a soothing spa for your body with a lot of antioxidants. It gives you a little more punch than green tea and stabilizes your response to sugar. It also may prevent the development of some fat cells. You can drink two a day and try to replace one of the other caffeinated beverages you’re used to drinking every day. You should do that before your cheat week.
Dr Oz: Holiday Breakfast Smoothie
Next, Dr. Oz said on big meal days, you shouldn’t starve yourself. Dr. Oz suggested eating a macro-nutrient breakfast before 10 a.m. on your big meal days. A macro-nutrient meal basically means you’re eating your fat, protein, and carbs together. A great option is a holiday breakfast smoothie. The smoothie contains soy or almond milk, walnuts, banana, canned pumpkin, ginger, and cinnamon, and then you just mix it in a blender until smooth. It’s not only good for you, but it tastes delicious as well.
Dr Oz: High-Fiber Cracker Before Party
Dr. Oz’s next tip was to eat a high-fiber cracker 15 minutes before the holiday party. He said this will change your life. Dr. Oz said they have 6 grams of fiber each and once it’s inside your body, it may slow down the absorption of fats. Kim said the cracker was a little dry, and then chugged a glass of water.
Dr. Oz said the average person gains five pounds over the holidays and he wants to help us try to avoid that. Kim said even though she was making fun of it, she will put the tips into place.
Dr Oz: Take A Shot Of Apple Cider Vinegar
Dr. Oz then explained that you should start your big cheat meal with two tablespoons of vinegar. He said if you have a salad, you can put the vinegar on there and the vinegar will help you process sugar differently. Dr. Oz picked up a shot glass of apple cider vinegar and took a shot of it, and Kim did it right along with him. Afterward, you can go and enjoy your meal.
Lastly, when it comes to dessert, Dr. Oz suggested skipping the crust and only eating the filling when it comes to pies. Dr. Oz said you can eat the pie without the crust and save yourself an average of 125 calories and 7 grams of fat. That’s incredible! “The crust is the best part though!” Kim said.
