Dr Oz: Find Out Your RealAge
Dr Oz and Dr Michael Roizen were surprised by the enduring success of their books, beginning with You: The Owner’s Manual, which was just updated and re-released for its 10th anniversary. Find out about Roizen’s other passion project, RealAge, and how it can take years off your life.
Over the past decade, Oz and Roizen went from writing partners to best friends, as well as the co-hosts of a series on Discovery Fit & Health. It was not long before Dr Oz was a frequent guest on Oprah’s show, leading eventually to Dr Oz’s daily show, where Dr Roizen became known as The Enforcer.
Dr Oz: What is RealAge?

Dr Oz’s friend, Dr Michael Roizen, shared the ideas behind his RealAge tool, and they explained four healthy habits you can maintain to lower your age.
One of Roizen’s other specialities is the concept of RealAge, “the actual age of your body. It can be many years older or younger. It’s really the actual age of your organs,” he said. The good news is that you have some control over your aging.
Roizen said his calendar age is 68, but the RealAge of his organs is about 20 years younger, because of his healthy lifestyle habits. He told Dr Oz that you can take control and get much younger.
Dr Oz: What Ages Your Organs?
Ann Marie wanted to learn her RealAge, in advance of her 20th high school reunion. She has gained a lot of weight since graduation, she is unemployed, and she feels worn down by her kids.
She said she weighs 181 pounds, and her body mass index (BMI) is 32, which classifies her has obese. Weight is a major factor when it comes to RealAge.
Her family history includes diabetes, heart disease, and cancer, which can all affect your RealAge. Smoking, which Ann Marie does socially, also ages her.
Though her chronological age is 38, her RealAge is 44. However, you can turn your RealAge around by making small changes.
Dr Oz: Turn Back the Clock On Your RealAge
Dr Roizen and Dr Oz gave four ways you can start to turn back the clock on your RealAge.
