Dr Oz: “Woman Problems”
Dr Oz wants all of his female viewers to be happy and pain free, which is why he was excited to talk about his pain free guide to “hashtag women problems.” Dr Oz welcomed women’s wellness expert Dr Yael Varnado to his show to help him with the discussion. Dr V explained that some common women problems are menstrual cramps, menopause, and mental anxiety. She then joked that all those words begin with “men!”

Dr V said a fabulous pair of shoes is a life-changing experience. Marilyn Monroe even said “give a girl the right pair of shoes, and she can conquer the world.” But as fabulous as those shoes are, they usually aren’t all that comfortable. One woman shared that she loves wearing her high heels, but they make her feet hurt pretty bad.
The good news is that there are a few things you can do to make wearing those sexy heels a little more comfortable. Dr V suggested carrying clear bandages in your purse, saying that it can prevent rubbing and friction. You can also use clear antiperspirant on your feet to avoid the friction as well.
Dr Oz: Avoid Hormone Headaches
Dr Oz shared a cartoon of a person waving a white flag saying “hormones, you win again!” One woman shared that she gets horrible migraines. Dr V said most women actually get their headaches and migraines right before their period. Dr V suggested she drink a smoothie in the weeks leading up to her period to help avoid the headache altogether.
To make the smoothie, just combine the following ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth:
- 1 C kale
- 1 medium banana
- fresh ginger
- 1 C unsweetened almond milk
Dr Oz: Lower Back Pain & Breast Size
If you struggle with lower back pain, like many women, it can often be related to breast size. Dr Oz held up a cantaloupe and a grapefruit while Dr V explained that the average woman’s breast size in the U.S. is a 34 DD. She said that’s like carrying around a cantaloupe which weighs three pounds. If you compare that to a woman who is an A or B cup, they’re really only carrying around the weight of a grapefruit.
Dr V shared what she does at home to alleviate the pain. Since her lower back tends to act up during the day, she does a yoga pose where she’s down on all fours and then hunches her shoulders over to create a curve of her spine. She then arches her back to stretch things out the other way. It also stretches her hips and can help improve your posture.
Dr Oz: Make Waxing Less Painful
Dr Oz said a lot of women have to deal with painful waxing and that was one woman problem he could understand. He had actually been waxed on the show before so he knows how painful it is! Dr V said pain-free waxing really does exist. She suggested not scheduling a wax the day before your period or while you’re on your period. She suggested scheduling an appointment for the week after your period, and hydrating with a diaper cream beforehand.
Also, avoid caffeine before your appointment because it can actually increase your sensitivity to pain. You can also apply the diaper cream after you get waxed as well. If you’re nervous, tell the person waxing you and they will likely distract you or give you techniques for making it easier. For example, try turning and coughing while you’re being waxed to distract yourself from the pain.
What’s the worst “woman problem” you have? What techniques do you have for making them easier to deal with?
