Dr Oz: Pain You Should Never Ignore

Do you know how to describe your pain? Dr Oz said that being able to understand and describe your pain so that are you are able to tell whether it is a sign of a serious medical problem. Learn about the Dr Oz Pain Intensity Scale and Endometriosis Symptoms.

Dr Oz Pain Intensity Scale

Doctor Oz said that some patients have a high tolerance for pain, but others do not. That is why he has come up with a scale to help you rate the severity of your pain so you can manage it or get relief.

The pain scale goes from 0 to 10, and you can use it to give your pain a score and share it with a doctor during a medical appointment if you are having pain symptoms. Dr Oz said you should never ignore severe pain.

Dr Oz: Pain Intensity Scale, Endometriosis Symptoms & Kidney Stone

Dr Oz shared the Pain Intensity Scale to help you evaluate your pain; how to watch for severe pain that could mean a kidney stone or Endometriosis symptoms.

But you also want to pay attention to mild pain, because it can affect your body and make you more sensitive to other health problems. When should you see a doctor about your pain levels?

If your pain jumps on the Pain Intensity Scale, if your pain is worse when you squeeze your calf, or if you experience pain after being sedentary or traveling, check in with a doctor.

Dr Oz: Pulmonary Embolism

If you have mild leg pain, you probably have nothing to worry about. But if your pain suddenly shoots up the scale, you might need to be concerned.

It could be a sign of a blood clot. If untreated, a blood clot can advance to the lungs, causing a Pulmonary Embolism, which can be fatal. Be sure to use the Pain Intensity Scale when sharing your pain with medical professionals.

Dr Oz: Lower Back Pain Kidney Stone

Women often complain about lower back pain. Maybe you think it’s because you lifted a heavy object. But Dr Oz said you shouldn’t write this type of pain off either. At least be sure to note the intensity of your pain on the scale.

Once you have rated the pain, see if you can pinpoint the source of the pain using one of your fingers. If your back pain comes on suddenly or is severe, this could mean a kidney stone.

Dr Oz: Abdominal Cramps

Women also sometimes experience abdominal cramps. Maybe you think this is related to your normal monthly cycle, but you would know if it’s more serious, because the pain would skyrocket on the scale. If you have severe abdominal cramps, something else is wrong. Generally, your menstrual cramps should get less painful with age.

Dr Oz: Endometriosis Symptoms

Dr Oz said that severe abdominal cramps during a woman’s period are Endometriosis symptoms. It’s a normal medical condition for a woman’s uterine tissue to shed during menstruation.

But with Endometriosis, you are actually losing abdominal tissue, which is very painful. It can also cause pain in other parts of the body, which can be confusing. Your symptoms can include bloating and internal bleeding.

Dr Oz said focusing on the location and severity of your pain will help you ensure that you get the right care when you need it most.
