Maybe Dr Oz and Lisa can change my mind in this segment. Lisa Lee Freeman said she’s found the biggest savings throughout the stores.

Lisa’s first advice is to focus on the big box store brands if you’re a warehouse shopper. BJ’s, Costco and Sam’s Club all offer their own store brands, and in a price comparison, Lisa said that you can save 25% more on these brands, even compared to competing brands in the same store.

When you start looking for discounts, things can really add up. My other favorite trick is to compare unit costs when they’re available, because they break it down to cents per ounce, which makes it easier to compare different sizes or brands of products for value. The catch is there are some things you probably can’t buy in bulk, like produce, because it will go bad and not end up saving you anything.

If you take a daily multivitamin, you should know that those pills are shelf stable for a long time. You can save big bucks by purchasing a one-year supply. Lisa showed how you could buy two 200-count bottles for a total of $36, which would have you set for the year.
Compare that to buying as you go at a pharmacy, where you might be spending $10 for a bottle of 50 pills. You could save more than 50% buying in bulk.

- Don’t mega dose. Use the label to make sure you aren’t taking more than 100% of the recommended daily value.
