Dr Oz: Hypnosis For Weight Loss
Dieting is not fun and half of the diets don’t even work. Many people have tried hundreds of diets, only to watch the weight stay where it is. But Dr. Oz has the answer in his episode, “The New Hypnosis for Weight Loss: 7 Days, 7 Techniques” and they could be the solution you have been waiting for to help you lose that weight for good.
Dr Oz: Hypnosis Can Help You Lose 8 Pounds
Paul McKenna, expert hypnotist and author of Change Your Life in 7 Days, argued that people are going about losing weight all wrong. People will try a number of diets and often end up gaining more weight. Recent research has shown weight loss is truly a behavioral issue, meaning hypnosis, according to McKenna, could be a valuable tool in helping people lose weight.
Dr. Guy Montgomery, another guest on Dr. Oz, said he has done studies and found the participants who were treated with hypnosis lost eight more pounds than those who just had a behavior intervention.
Dr Oz: Fight Food Cravings With Repulsion
McKenna told the audience he has seven techniques that can help anyone lose weight in seven days by changing your behaviors and your mind. His first technique involved cravings and how to fight them to avoid overeating.
On most diets, you are told to restrict yourself and not eat the foods you love the most. McKenna said the problem with this type of method is it will push people to crave those foods even more. What needs to happen is you need to turn your compulsion into repulsion, so you can change your behavior.
First, think of a food that you are craving. Next, think of a food that repulses you. Now mix the two together in your mind and they will essentially cancel each other out, which will put you more in charge of what you want to eat rather than the food being in charge of you, according to McKenna. This technique can have long term effects, but McKenna said sometimes people will need to practice it more often in order to stay on track with their weight loss.
Dr Oz: Hypnosis Stops Emotional Eating
Food is too often an emotional release for us. We eat when we are sad, we eat when we are happy. We use food as a comfort.
McKenna explained there have been recent breakthroughs in the area of phychosensory therapies as a way to help those who are emotional eaters. These hypnosis techniques will tap into the body and a sequence of movements help to desensitize a person, allowing the expert to lower the person’s stress and reduce their desire to eat when they emotional.
He demonstrated the technique on Dr. Oz’s stage with a guest from the audience. Before he began, she said her stress was around a 10, but after he was done with the technique, she not only said her stress was lowered to a two, but she also struggled to get back the feelings that caused her stress when he asked her to try because she felt very calm and lighter.
