The 2012 Daytime Emmy Award Winners were announced on HLN June 24 2012. Among the honorees were talk show hosts Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa. Also honored were Dr Oz, the Today Show, and more. For their final season as co-hosts, Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa were honored with Emmys for outstanding talk show host. Their show, Live With Regis & Kelly, won the Emmy for best entertainment talk show for the first time in its history this year.

Executive producer Michael Gelman was on hand to accept the award, which was a long time coming after decades of nominations but no win. Kelly Ripa compared her producer to longtime Emmy also-ran Susan Lucci.

“I want to thank Regis and Kelly, who really are unbelievable. Regis, we miss you, and Kelly, …you really are doing a great job with all our co-hosts,” Gelman said in his acceptance speech. He also thanked the show’s staff, whom he said have been together nearly 30 years.

Dr Oz 2012 Emmy Award: Outstanding Informative Talk Show

In the category of outstanding informative talk show, Dr Oz won the top prize, beating out competition from The Doctors (who presented awards in other categories at the ceremony) for the award. A team of producers accepted the award, gushing about their love for the show and its passionate host.

Here are some of the other highlights from among the winners at the 39th Daytime Emmy Awards. On the night Jeopardy was honored, its host was admitted to the hospital. Alex Trebek had a heart attack, but is expected to make a full recovery.
