The Doctors: Tim McGraw, America’s Diabetes Challenge
The Doctors welcomed country music star and actor Tim McGraw to their show via Skype. Tim explained that he’s teamed up with Merck for America’s Diabetes Challenge and they’re trying to get people to go to AmericasDiabetesChallenge.com and team up with their doctors to find out what their A1C levels are. Your A1C is a measure of your chronic blood glucose levels and if people don’t have any idea what their’s is, they should get it checked out.
Tim McGraw shared that he actually had an aunt who died from complications from diabetes. Dr Rachael Ross shared that of the 30 million people living with diabetes, about 90-95% of them are living with type-2 diabetes that can improve with the right lifestyle changes.

Then, speaking of lifestyle changes, Dr Ross pointed out recent pictures of Tim that were featured in Men’s Health Magazine. He’s clearly made some lifestyle changes, and Tim said he wanted to be healthy for his three daughters and his wife. Not to mention he also spends two hours a night on stage which can certainly take its toll on his body.
Tim shared that his workouts are actually even more “hardcore” when he’s on the road because his band and crew workout with him. They start their workout around 11 in the morning in the gym and then run hills and then in the afternoon they’ll do a Crossfit challenge that lasts about an hour to an hour and a half. Tim then shared that his daughter Gracie actually sang on his album with him, and it took about two weeks to work up the nerve to ask her to sing with him. But he asked her to sing with him in Nashville and they nailed it. As for what’s next for him, Tim shared that he has a new album coming out in November and he’s finishing up his tour. After that, he gets to settle down and enjoy the holidays with his family.
