Tonight Show: Richard Roeper Oscar Predictions

Richard Roeper is quickly surpassing his mentor of sorts, Robert Ebert, when it comes to movies. He is the new face of movie reviews and he has hoards of devoted readers who eat up every word he writes. And he isn’t just known for his articles reviewing movies. He has his own website filled with blogs and video reviews of movies, he has been a guest on Top Chef, he hosts a radio show in Chicago, he hosts a movie reviewing program on Starz and he has written eight books, one of them pertaining to his love for the Chicago White Sox.

And who better to talk to about the Academy Awards than Roeper? For a guy who critiques movies for a living, there really is no one else who can do what Richard Roeper does.

So who does he think is going to win Best Picture or Best Actor or any of the other categories? He is picking Argo to win Best Picture and he said Daniel Day-Lewis will be winning the Best Actor award for pretty clear cut reasons. As he wrote in his article for The Sun Times, “Daniel Day-Lewis pretty much won Best Actor when the poster for Lincoln was unveiled. He’s the best living actor in the world, and it will be a monumental upset if anyone else wins. Going up against Day-Lewis is the acting equivalent of making the NBA Finals when Michael Jordan was in his prime.”
