Tonight Show: J.B. Smoove CBS Pilot

J.B. Smoove may be the funniest comedian you have never heard of. He is probably best known for his role as Leon on Curb Your Enthusiasm or for some of the sketches he wrote for Saturday Night Live, leaving him the recipient of a 2007 Writers Guild of America Award for Best Comedy/Variety Series.

It seems like Smoove is going to be stepping in front of the camera again this year as he stars opposite Will Arnett in an untitled CBS series by Greg Garcia. The new show is going to focus on Jack, played by Arnett, a recently divorced guy whose life continues to unravel as his parents have marital problems as well. Smoove will be playing the (probably) funny best friend. Do you think he is moving on to drama roles?

The series, created by Kevin Hart, follows the comedian/actor through his daily live as well as some of the “lives” of his comedian friends including Robin Thicke, Duane Martin, Smoove and more.

The band, formed by Josh Tillman, the former drummer for the Fleet Foxes, plays mostly folk music and has a number of performers that play with the band on a revolving schedule it seems like. Fear Fun, their first and only album so far, has been met with positive reviews from critics across the board.

And if you really want to hear one of the best cover songs of all time, listen to Father John Misty’s cover of “Do You Realize?
