Tonight Show: Joey King Role In Oz the Great and Powerful
Jay Leno invited 13-year-old Joey King on the Tonight Show to talk about her new role in Oz the Great and Powerful, voicing the animated character China Girl. King said she isn’t exactly doing a voice-over but she isn’t exactly on the set either. She said she records her lines in a booth because her face is used for China Girls’ face but her character is only two feet tall which means they have to CGI her body into the film. King didn’t mind being in a booth all the time. She had Zach Braff to keep her company.
She also plays the role of a wheelchair-bound little girl in the movie as well. She said it is a short role but she asks Oz to grant her a wish he really can’t grant. Having to work from a wheelchair wasn’t too bad for King, who said the set for that scene was just a giant circus.
The film is a sequel to the well-known Wizard of Oz and features James Franco as the all-powerful Oz. The film follows Franco’s character as he is delivered to the land of Oz where the inhabitants think he is a great and powerful wizard that has come to save them from the wicked witch. Using some “magic” and ingenuity, Oz struggles to save his new friends from the evil witch.
