Today Show: Winter Weekend Getaways
Now is the time to feed those Friday daydreams about escaping to a gorgeous place, hanging out in a cool hotel and experiencing some sunshine before Monday. Even if the private jet isn’t coming just to pick you up, there’s no need to wait to win the lottery before thinking about a trip Nilou Motamed, features director and senior correspondent for Travel + Leisure, was in the studio to take viewers on a tour of her favorite places to stay that won’t break the bank.
Today Show: B Hotel Review Fort Lauderdale
If sun is the thing, Motamed recommended the B Hotel in Fort Lauderdale. She cites its fabulous sushi restaurant and amazing beach views as standout. The $199 weekend rate definitely makes this a doable trip.
Today Show: Graham and Co Review Phonecia NY
Next up is a vacation for those who don’t mind packing their winter jackets and gloves. Graham and Co., in Phonecia, NY boasts a vibe that Motamed describes as a cross between Brooklyn hipster and Catskills cool. Ski discounts in the winter and free bike rentals in the summer appeal to outdoorsy types. And, for its $99 weekend rate, there’s no need to feel guilty about that hot chocolate.
Today Show: Agate Cove Inn Reviews Mendocino
Moving to the opposite coast, the Agate Cove Inn in Mendocino, CA is a favorite for both Motamed and the anchor. It’s a collection of farmhouses and cottages. She described the beautiful view of the ocean and added that visitors over the next months might actually be able to see whales as they migrate. Go hungry, she said, because the inn has spectacular breakfast offerings and hot chocolate. And, an impressive selection of local craft beers are on offer. With weekend rates under $200, this is truly value for money.
Today Show: Grand Geneva Review Wisconsin
For families, Motamed loves the Grand Geneva in Lake Geneva, WI. The indoor water slide and fire pit mean there’s always something to do. Adults can find plenty to entertain themselves, as well, she added. Like the other hotels she showed, this is a five-star experience on an everyday budget. And, at just two hours from Chicago and also close to Milkwaukee, airline tickets aren’t needed.
Today Show: Red River Ranch Review Utah
For those who want to escape their desks, the Red River Ranch in Teasdale, UT offers a more athletic weekend for just $160 a night. Riding and hiking are readily available before guests come back to an environment that Motamed likes for the authentically Southwest flavor. A floor-to-ceiling fireplace dominates the design.
