Today Show: Stephen and Terri Weaver Double Lottery Winners
Have you ever heard anyone say they are having such a good day they should buy a lottery ticket? Well for Stephen and Terri Weaver, a couple from Arkansas, they probably shouldn’t have stopped buying scratch off tickets after they won a $1 million and $50,000 jackpot at the same store, during the same weekend trip after two separate visits.
Like I said, if you are that lucky, you might as well keep buying more lottery tickets.
Stephen Weaver told the Today Show’s Matt Lauer he was taking his wife on vacation when they decided to stop at a convenience store for some gas and lottery tickets. After fueling up, the couple went to a pizza place where they ate and scratched off their newly purchased lottery tickets, one of them revealing a $1 million jackpot.
“We didn’t scream,” Stephen said. “We were in shock. We couldn’t function for like 10 minutes.”
Today Show: Couple Wins Lottery Twice In the Same Weekend
After winning, the couple headed to their cabin where they planned to spend their weekend. On their way back home, they stopped at the same convenience store they bought the $1 million ticket at to get the ticket confirmed and they bought some more lottery tickets as well, “just for the heck of it.” When they scratched off their second lottery ticket purchase of the weekend, the couple won $50,000.
Terri Weaver said her husband’s face turned so red after realizing they had won the lottery for a second time in one weekend, she thought he was going to have a heart attack.
When they told the clerk at the convenience store they had won a second time, she could hardly believe them. At the end of the day, and after the taxes are taken out, the couple walked away with a cool $714,000. I bet a lot of people are going to be asking Terri and Stephen to buy them some lottery tickets from that convenience store.
