Today Show: Lionel Richie Performs Stuck On You
Lionel Richie performed “Stuck On You” as part of Today Show‘s summer concert series. It looked like most of Today Show‘s anchors were having flashbacks to high school, as they were rocking back and forth right along with the chilled-out, nostalgic song. Unfortunately, the performance wasn’t quite what it could have been, since they had to move Lionel and his piano inside due to rain.
Today Show: Lionel Richie’s First American Tour In Over 10 Years
Lionel Richie has sold more than 100 million albums worldwide and a five-time Grammy winner, and he had some good news for his fans. For the first time in over a decade, Lionel Richie will be going on a US tour. With the tour, he is looking to elicit nostalgia from anyone that comes to his show, calling it one big karaoke. Lionel said that people will leave the show remembering three things: where they were, what they were doing, and who they were doing it with.
Lionel is very aware of the pressure that will come with this tour. He will be performing songs that people were engaged to, married to, and danced to at their weddings. People know not just the chorus, but every word to these songs—they will most certainly call him out if he messes with their nostalgia. He wants his shows to all be one night full of reminiscing.
Today Show: Lionel Richie Performs Hello
Before singing his next song, “Hello,” Matt and Savannah showed Lionel a small clip of Nicole Richie, who was on the show earlier in the week. She wished him luck on the show, but also told him to not talk too much, because it was embarrassing. Though it was clearly an innocent rib, Lionel joked that if there was one person that could demolish his swagger, it was his daughter, Nicole.
Today Show: Lionel Richie Performs All Night Long
Lionel Richie amped up the energy for his last song on the show with “All Night Long.” While everyone in the studio was certainly feeling the energy, he did his best to engage the audience stuck out on the street through the window, as well. It looked like Lionel just has an energy about it, because he got everyone moving, both inside and out.
