Today Show: Kerri Walsh Jennings Pregnancy
At the 2012 summer Olympics, Kerri Walsh Jennings and her partner Misty May-Treanor, won their third straight gold medal playing the toughest beach volleyball players in the world. And according to Walsh, they had a third player on their team as well. Just weeks after their gold medal three-peat Walsh revealed to the world she was pregnant the entire time she was playing in the Olympics. When she made the announcement she told the world she was 11 weeks pregnant. On a special Today Show segment last Christmas Eve Walsh revealed to the world she was going to be having her first daughter.
Today Walsh said she is “35 weeks and one day” pregnant. Everyone in her family is getting ready for their new daughter. Even her little boys, who were hitting her belly when they thought it was a boy, have started kissing her belly more ever since they found out they were going to be having a baby sister.
As for the baby’s new room, Walsh said some of her friends are decorating the room for her as a surprise gift and she has yet to see it, although she said she is super excited about seeing it. It was probably a good thing they decorated the room, said Walsh, because she is terrible at making decisions.
Today Show: Kerri Walsh Jennings Pregnancy Exercises
Kerri Walsh Jennings practically lives in her bikini so she needs to stay in shape and stay physically active even while she is pregnant. She told the Today Show she did a lot of cardio exercises when she was pregnant the first time and this time she is focusing more on lifting light weights and doing pilates.
“Exercising when pregnant is important,” she said. “It is good for my mood. I would be unhappy if I stopped working out.”
She showed the Today Show hosts a few exercises she likes to do even if she isn’t pregnant. All it takes is a resistance band, a few weights and some space. The first exercise involved putting the resistance band around your ankles and shuffling left and right, creating tension by spreading your legs apart. You can even make the exercise a bit more intense by staying as low as possible and doing some squats as you slide back and forth. The other exercise she showed everyone was to help with balance. Simply stand on one foot and do curls with some light weights. It will strengthen your arms and help you with your balance.
