Benedict Cumberbatch, star of Star Trek Into Darkness, came by Today to talk about his role in the new film. Natalie Morales and Access Hollywood Live’s Billy Bush did the interview. Billy Bush said that he loved Benedict Cumberbatch’s name and Natalie Morales said he had to become an actor with that name. Benedict Cumberbatch said it’s embarrassing when his name comes up in the credits of the movie in 3D IMAX, because it scrolls on and on.

Benedict Cumberbatch Fan Nicknames

Benedict Cumberbatch’s fans have a nickname for themselves. Billy Bush asked what it was, but Natalie Morales said that it couldn’t be said on the air. Benedict Cumberbatch smiled and said he calls his fans the “Cumber Collective,” but we all know that whatever the real name is, it’s something a lot worse than a collective. So what is it? I had to look it up myself. And it’s not something I can say here. But it explains why Benedict Cumberbatch was so bashful when Billy Bush brought it up. It’s not the kind of nickname you want known, or that you want to support, because it makes you look bad. Although, it is a little clever, which I think is surprising.

Benedict Cumberbatch Star Trek Prank

Benedict Cumberbatch was the new kid on the block when it came to the Star Trek movie and so the other stars hazed him a bit. He said that one of the futuristic sets, an “incredible facility” in northern California, was so impressive, he was led to believe he had to wear protective cream to save him from neutrino radiation. It was essentially Nivea that they called “neutron cream.” Then, every once in a while, he was told to shake off the neutrons. Benedict Cumberbatch said he was very embarrassed about it.
