Curtis Dowling: Treasure Detectives Review

Do you have a picture hanging on your wall and you are wondering how much it could be worth? It could be worth millions or it could be a fake. The only person who could tell is Curtis Dowling. Dowling has made his living inspecting antiques and collectibles in people’s homes and he has learned to spot a fake from a mile away. And now he is bringing himself and his team to the new TV series Treasure Detectives.

The Today Show pointed out how the show is similar to Antiques Roadshow, but Dowling told them Treasure Detectives goes deeper because it takes the audience behind the scenes and shows them how the story unfolds. From the history of the item to using technology or just his unique ability to determine if the piece is real, Dowling said the show lets the audience see it all.

Everyone on the Today Show wanted to know why Dowling would do a show where he shows off his secrets. Wouldn’t that help forgers learn what he looks for when spotting a fake? Dowling told the Today Show they don’t give away all their secrets on the show because they want it to be entertaining, not a source of education for would-be forgers who want to know all the secrets to forging antiques.
