The Today Show hit a home run as co-hosts Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb were given tips to Removing Wine Stains and a plethora of other common stains. Great advice for everyone!

First up, the aforementioned (and much feared) wine spill. Simply sprinkle salt on the stain and use a combination of dishwashing detergent and vinegar to wipe away the mess. They even demonstrated the effectiveness of this concoction and sure enough, it worked!

Gravy: wipe up as much as possible with a rag or paper towel, then use corn starch or baking powder to soak up the grease. Next, use Dryel (essentially dry cleaning at home) to remove the oily stain. If you have to wait until the next day, use hot water.

Today Show: How to Remove Cranberry Stains

Cranberry sauce: use vinegar and cold water to remove as much as you can, then throw the item in a delicate wash cycle.


Today Show: How to Remove Chocolate Stains

Chocolate: use a hydrogen peroxide and water mixture to blot the area until the stain is removed.

Today Show: Coffee Stain Removal

Coffee: use water and dishwashing detergent to rub on the stain right away. The used Liquid Glycerin to lubricate and loosen up the stain.

Dripping wax: pop up the wax with a knife and place a brown paper bag over the spot. Iron over the bag and the wax will come right up!

Melissa D’Arabian, past winner of The Next Food Network Star and host of the Cooking Channel’s “Drop 5 Lbs. With Good Housekeeping,” visited the set to show off some Quick Appetizer Recipes.

Today Show: Mock Mascarpone Crostini Recipe

Melissa D’Arabian spent most of her time on a yummy Mock Mascarpone Crostini recipe. Check it out below:


  • Vanilla Greek Yogurt
  • Vanilla Extract
  • Roasted Red Peppers
  • Basil Leaves
  • Cream Cheese
  • Baguette
  • Olive Oil
  • Salt


Mix cream cheese and Greek yogurt into bowl, then add a few drops of Vanilla extract. This combination emulates Mascarpone cheese but is much easier to find and is a cheaper alternative to the pricy soft Italian cheese.

Next, spread the mixture onto the bread and throw roasted red peppers and basil on top. Easy!

Melissa D’Arabian also showed this great appetizer recipe:


  • Zucchini
  • Lemon
  • Olive Oil
  • Thyme
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Parmesan
  • Baguette


Make ribbons of the cucumbers with a peeler, then put olive oil, thyme, salt, and pepper into a jar. Cover the jar and shake. Drizzle the mixture onto the cucumbers when you get to your destination and add parmesan cheese.
