Kathie Lee and Hoda are getting kids to eat healthy with some delicious sandwiches for their lunch boxes. Believe it or not, your kids will eat more than peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for lunch every day. The ladies were joined by Ariane Duarte, Contributing Editor at Prevention Magazine, who shared her Italian BLT with Pesto Recipe and Turkey, Avocado and Tomato Wrap Recipe. Italian BLT with Pesto Recipe & Turkey, Avocado and Tomato Wrap Recipe

Ariane Duarte shared recipes for healthy sandwiches for your kids, including her Italian BLT with Pesto Recipe & Turkey, Avocado and Tomato Wrap Recipe.

Directions

  • 1 tbsp refrigerated or jarred pesto
  • 1 small (2 oz) tomato, sliced
  • 1 large leaf romaine lettuce
  • 3 slices pre-cooked turkey bacon strips
  • 2 slices multigrain bread, toasted

Preparation

  1. Put the turkey bacon between two sheets of paper towel
  2. According to the package directions, heat the turkey bacon in microwave oven
  3. Toast the bread
  4. Spread the pesto on one slice
  5. Top the pesto with bacon, lettuce and tomato
  6. Take the other slice of bread and cover
  7. Cut the sandwich in half diagonally

Ariane Duarte: Turkey, Avocado and Tomato Wrap Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 think slice avocado
  • 1 tsp lime juice
  • 1 leaf watercress or arugula
  • 1 tbsp sugar-free ranch dressing
  • 1 leaf red or green lettuce
  • 1 slice turkey breast
  • 1 slice ham
  • 1 thin slice of tomato

Directions

  1. On a plate, fan the lettuce leaf
  2. Top the lettuce leaf with the ham, turkey and tomato
  3. In a small bowl, combine the avocado and lime juice
  4. Spoon the avocado and lime juice mixture onto the tomato
  5. Top that mixture with the arugula or watercress and the dressing
  6. Take all of the and roll it up and secure it with a wooden pick
