For years, Piero Ribelli visited 50 different 50 Main Streets addresses across the country and created this book. The book is a collection of photographs and stories he took along his journey. Kathie Lee and Hoda both said it is a beautiful book.
Piero Ribelli: What Made Him Do The Book
Piero Ribelli said that when he came to New York in 1985 from Italy, he noticed how diverse it was compared to Italy. As he traveled the country and eventually married his African American wife, he noticed how much we do share as human beings and as Americans.
Piero Ribelli: Traveling The Country
For the book, Piero Ribelli travled the United States for seven years and traveled more than 16,000 miles by car. of all the places, Piero said that Alaska was the most exciting. Before going to any city, Piero said he did research and he sent letters before going to the places. At first people were hesitant, but would open up eventually.
Kathie Lee & Hoda: Stories From The Road
Piero Ribelli was able to spend some great time with many great people along the way. Piero said there was a married couple in Nevada that he got to spend the night with. The couples lives in a town called Paradise Valley, which has a population of 65 people. The closest motel was 45 miles away, so they offered for Piero to stay with them. During his stay, Piero was able to learn so much about them, like they lost both their sons. Piero said it was very touching and they got close and he continues to stay in touch with them.
