Kathie Lee and Hoda were joined by Naomi Wolf, best-selling author, to talk about her new book Vagina: A New Biography and women’s sexuality.

Kathie Lee and Hoda said vagina is a hard word to say. Naomi said it is very private, very personal, very intimate, but on the other hand there is so much new information regarding it that we have to have the conversation. Hoda said it is chocked full of information and has gotten some great reviews.

Naomi Wolf: New Information

She said like most women, she knew the basics and she has been interested in sexuality her whole career and thought she understood it, but what we knew was from 40 years ago and there is this new science for female arousal and desire. She said this should help their lovers, partners and help women understand themselves.

Naomi Wolf: Sexuality Comes From Creativity

Hoda said your sexuality and what happens downstairs is connected to your mind. Naomi said she is interpreting the data that way. She said there is this amazing documentation that neuroscientists have established that there is a strong brain-vagina connection, such that when a women is empowered to know about her desire and know what makes her happy and think about it, that lady gets some really great neurochemicals and hormones affecting her mood. She gets dopamine, which goes to risk-taking, confidence and focus. She gets oxytocin, which is about bonding and connection and she gets opioids, which is about joy. She said that she has interviewed a lot of women that have seen the signs and realized that is why.

Naomi Wolf: Women All So Different

Kathie Lee asked if she spoke to any nuns, which have never experienced it but enjoys a beautiful experience in life of service to mankind. Naomi said the findings in this book come from readers that are also celibate, lesbian, long married and the insights in this book are for everyone. She said you don’t have to be having it with another person to be able to use this information to protect your own health and well being. You can get these experiences from other things, such as getting dopamine from shopping, and it is just about knowing yourself better and you don’t have to be in a relationship.

About the author

I graduated from Central Michigan University with a Bachelors of Science in Journalism and Broadcasting with hopes of having my own radio talk show. I love anything and everything about television (well, except the Kardsahians, but I don't think I am alone on that one).
