Jennifer Weiner is best-known for her first book, Good In Bed, which has sold 1.8 million copies. Weiner said to write her books, she watches the world, watches her family and watches TV and that’s where the ideas come from. Despite all the books sales and being on the New York Times best sellers list for weeks, Weiner said the best thing for her was she had T-shirts made that said, “I Got Good In Bed, Did You?” She gave one to her Nana and she wore it on the beach.

Jennifer Weiner said that she had a really good agent who said before Good In Bed was even published to start writing the next book. The Next Best Thing is about Hollywood. Weiner said she ran a show, wrote a pilot and it aired on ABC Family for a year and got cancelled. This inspired her to write a book about a showrunner who wanted to go to Hollywood and do a show about a big girl who wins the world. She gets the guy, gets the clothes…the dream life.

To read on the beach, Jennifer Weiner suggested Between You and Me by Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus. This is about a star who hires her cousin to be her assistant and it doesn’t go well.

To read on a rainy day, Jennifer Weiner suggested Crazy Salad by Nora Ephron. Weiner said this is the book that made her want to be a writer.

To read under the covers, Jennifer Weiner suggested Geek Love by Katherine Dunn. This is about a circus family that deliberately tries to have dysfunctional children so they always have work.
