For the Plaza Ambush Makeover on the reinvention episode of The Today Show, Kathie Lee and Hoda took Julie McCarthy, a 48-year-old mom from Oak Park, IL, who was laid off from her job of 14 years. So, Julie decided to reinvent herself and went back to school got her doctorate degree, which she just received.

For the hair, Louis Licari gave her bold, brown dark hair. He said her hair was a little blackish, so he evened it out and made it softer. Louis said they trimmed it up and gave it this more controlled look.

For the dress, Jill Martin put Julie McCarthy in an Andrew Marc dress with H&M earrings. Jill said that Julie has never worn a pair of Spanx in her life and has a body where she doesn’t need to. Julie said that she wanted to impress her daughter, who was in the studio with her.

For the Plaza Ambush Makeover for the reinvention episode of The Today Show, Kathie Lee and Hoda took Joan Jellison, a 51-year-old mom from Canton, OH. Joan said she has felt like a Plain Jane her whole like and after 27 years with the same look, she is ready for a new look.

For the hair, Louis Licari said the trend right now is lighter and brighter hair. He gave Joan natural looking hair and believable. He gave her a hair cut, which gave her hair the fullness and body.

For the dress, Jill Martin put Joan Jellison in a Maggy London dress. Joan said she when she put on the dress that her daughter, who happened to be in the studio with her, was going to love it.
