Today’s Beauty: Bad Habit Breaking
Time for Today’s Beauty and those bad habits that are hard to break. You can admit it, you all have a lipstick or a foundation that has been in your bathroom for more than a year. Kathie Lee and Hoda were joined by Victoria Kirby, Beauty Director at Redbook Magazine, who gave tips on how to break that bad beauty cycle, including Clinique Makeup Brush Cleaner, Pantene Aqua Light Conditioner and Orly No Bite Nail Polish reviews.
Breaking Bad Habits: Clean Your Make-Up Brushes
Victoria said you have to clean your makeup brushes because it gets a ton of germs and it can lead to eye infections and breakouts. Victoria suggested Clinique Makeup Brush Cleaner for $14. She said you just spritz some on the brush and wipe it off with a tissue and you can use it right away.
Breaking Bad Habits: Blow Drying Your Hair Too Much
Victoria said women tend to blow dry their hair everyday and use a flatiron. She said women torture their hair everyday and it is the number one cause of hair damage and color fading. She suggested taking a break from it one day a week and it will significantly improve your hair.
Victoria suggested Pantene Aqua Light Conditioner. She said most women are worried about conditioner weighing down their hair, but she said it is the lightest conditioner out there and it is a dream for any woman with fine hair.
Breaking Bad Habits: Attacking Pimples
Victoria said we have all done it and you can’t just sit there and do nothing. She said picking at pimples can leave a scar, so she suggested taking an ice cube or two and put them in a paper towel and hold it on the spot for a couple minutes. Take it off for a minute and hold the ice on there again. Keep doing this a couple times and it takes down the redness and the swelling.
If it is full of puss, Victoria suggested Neutrogena Rapid Clear. She said it goes on clear and it will be treating it and then put your concealer on over it, so you will be treating it and covering it at the same time.
Breaking Bad Habits: Wearing Expired Make-Up
She said that makeup collects a lot of bacteria, like your brushes. You can’t clean your makeup, so you want to replace it regularly. For a mascara, you want to replace it every three months. Anything that is a liquid or a cream, every six months. Lipstick is good for a year and they say powders are good for two years.
Breaking Bad Habits: Biting Your Nails
Victoria said it is such a bad habit to break and it is a form of self-comfort. She said if you feel the urge to bite, she suggested rubbing on a sweet smelling lotion and it gives you that same self-comfort. Victoria said that will interrupt that emotional cycle that leads to biting.
Victoria suggested Orly No Bite Nail Polish. She said if you put this on your nails, you will never bite again because they make them taste horrible
