Today Show: Kathie Lee & Hoda Holiday Stories
The Today Show co-hosts Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb kicked off today’s show with some personal stories from the holiday season. Hoda and her man Jay ended up going to Puerto Rico for the holidays and said they did “absolutely nothing for the holidays”. Kathie Lee begged to differ, giving Hoda a sly look. As for Kathie Lee’s holiday, she went down to the Keys, which has become a family tradition. They all go out on a boat and then hang out at their house before a night of bowling. She proceeded to share a funny Kathie Lee New Years Story that is well worth retelling.
Kathie Lee left her dog behind on the bowling trip. Being a good mother, she said, the thought of leaving the dog alone for five hours left her feeling guilty. A friend she was with mentioned a couple in the area who could run by the house and let the dog out. As it turns out, the couple was returning from a day out on the water and had just put their own dog to sleep. Kathie Lee jumped at the chance to have the couple swing by and enjoy some time with her own dog. She quickly passed along her address before getting back to a night of bowling. Here comes the funny part.
The nice couple ended up going to the wrong house! Kathie Lee has a white fluffy dog, so they thought it was a little strange to be taking out a black-haired mangy dog. Yet they still took the dog outside and let it do its business. Come to find out, it was Kathie Lee’s neighbors — who were in the back yard the entire time throwing a party. They finally called Kathie Lee, who casually asked her neighbors the next day if “anything strange happened last night”. They were completely unaware of the home invaders, but did mention being upset that someone took a dog by their house the previous night and didn’t clean up after it. Little did they know!
Today Show: To-Do List Advice
Experts say you shouldn’t make long to-do lists that you can’t keep. At the end of the day, you can’t get to everything and it will just lead to stress, even if you’ve made a big dent in your tasks. Kathie Lee simply feels like you shouldn’t make one to begin with!
Hoda’s to-do list (on her iPhone) was enormous and included many outstanding tasks from before the holidays, such as buying wrapping paper and gift reminders. I think she needs to take a note or two from the experts. What do you think?
Kathie Lee’s To-Do List Advice: to-do lists, i.e. things you have to do for others, “only matter to people who don’t really matter to you”. People who are truly important in your life just need your time, so don’t get overwhelmed with doing favors, buying gifts for people, running unnecessary errands, etc.
