Kathie Lee & Hoda: Is Bringing Wine To a Party Always Considered a Gift?
Kathie Lee and Hoda love drinking wine and they love Philip Galanes’ Social Q’s column so they merged to the two for their first bit of news on March 8 2013. A woman wrote in to the column saying she went to a dinner party at her friend’s house and she brought two bottles of expensive wine because she doesn’t like the wine her friend always serves. So when she arrived she showed the bottle to her friend who promptly took the bottles, thanked the woman, put the expensive wine into the wine cellar and continued to open the less expensive wine to serve at the party. The woman who brought the two bottles of nice wine was upset and wanted to know if her friend was in the wrong.
Galanes said the woman shouldn’t be mad because her friend, the host of the party, doesn’t have to serve the wine if she doesn’t want to. Bringing wine to a party would normally be a reason to open the bottle, but if the host doesn’t open it, there is nothing you can say.
Hoda agreed, saying if you bring wine to a party it is always seen as bringing a present. Kathie Lee agreed but said they should have just opened it anyways. It was supposed to be better wine than what was being served. “Just tell the person you don’t like their cheap wine,” joked Kathie Lee.
Kathie Lee & Hoda: Dishwasher Etiquette – Listen To Your Wife
A new study has shown half of the couples in America have actually fought about the way the dishwasher is loaded. They argue over the way the forks are placed in the fork section, whether prongs should face up or down, and they argue about whether rinsing the dishes is enough before putting them in the dishwasher or whether they need to be rinsed and scraped before going in the dishwasher. And what are you supposed to do about the pots?
Kathie Lee and Hoda asked an employee of the show’s grandparents, who were their celebrating their granddaughter’s birthday, if they argued about the dishwasher, and the man said he makes sure to load and unload the dishwasher any way his wife likes him too. I guess that is why they have been married for 59 years.

The reporter asked her about her life and how she grew up and then he asked her about her new husband’s occupation. She told the reporter he is a funeral director. The reporter, finding this curious, asked the woman what her other three husbands did for a living and she told them she married a banker in her 20s, a circus performer in her 40s, a preacher in her 60s and finally, now, the funeral director. Puzzled by her varied choice in men and their professions, the reporter asked the woman why she married four men with such diverse careers. She smiled and told the reporter “one for the money, two for the show, three to get ready and four to go.”
