Kathie Lee & Hoda remembered Andy Griffith dead at 86, talked about Anderson Cooper coming out, and shared a Sangrito Recipe cocktail.
Hoda Kotb Said this drink is lethal from The Royalton hotel in New York called the Sangrito.
Ingredients
- 2 orange slices
- 5 mint leaves
- 1 1/2 oz vodka
- 1/2 oz Blood Orange Liquor
- 1/2 oz Peach Schnapps
- 1/2 oz Rioja wine
- 1/2 oz pomegranate juice
Directions
- Put mint leaves and orange slices into a cocktail shaker
- Add vodka, two ice cubes, and shake
- Pour into Pilsner glass and add crushed ice
- Add Blood Orange Liquor, peach schnapps, Rioja, pomegranate juice into the cocktail shaker
- Shake it up and add to top of Pilsner glass
- Add crushed ice to top of glass
Kathie Lee & Hoda: Katie Holmes Steps Out For First Time
Katie Holmes stepped out for the first time since filing for divorce from Tom Cruise. Holmes had a guest appearance scheduled on Project Runway. Holmes was surrounded by bodyguards and was not wearing her wedding ring.
Kathie Lee & Hoda: Andy Griffith Dead At 86
Andy Griffith died at the age of 86. He had battled health issues, including a quadruple bypass and hip surgery. Griffith was best known for his roles on The Andy Griffith Show and Matlock, but Kathie Lee said he was also a Grammy Award-winning gospel singer. Kathie Lee said he was a real country gentleman who always asked how you were doing.
Kathie Lee & Hoda: Anderson Cooper Gay
Anderson Cooper spoke out to the Daily Beast through an email to his friend Andrew Sullivan and announced he is gay. Cooper said, “The fact is, I’m gay.” Hoda and Kathie Lee said many knew this already in NYC, but now the world knows.
Kathie Lee & Hoda: U.S. Olympic Trials
The drama continued on for the Olympic photo finish. The runners were supposed to have a runoff yesterday to see who would make the team. Jeneba Tarmoh conceded because she felt she did win and is letting Allyson Felix go, but Tarmoh will go as an alternate. Michael Phelps dropped out of one event, so now he will go for seven medals instead of eight. His trainer and himself didn’t want to risk injury by taking on too much. Dara Torres, 45, failed to make her sixth Olympic team, as she came in fourth in her race.
Kathie Lee & Hoda: Dinner Party Guests
If you are having a dinner party and people have food restrictions, like being vegan or they can’t eat dairy, Hoda and Kathie Lee asked if hosts should cater to restricted eaters? Kathie Lee said the job as a hostess is to invite people to come. The invited person should call the hostess and say they don’t want to be a burden and can they bring their own food. Hoda said you should go and eat what you can and socialize.
Kathie Lee & Hoda: Businesses Banning Perfumes
Some government offices and hospitals have stopped employees from wearing perfume because of the strong scent. Kathie Lee and Hoda said even some hospitals are banning flowers with too strong of a scent.
