Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb talked with Margaret Cho, who just kicked off a comedy tour called Mother and is co-starring on the Lifetime dramedy Drop Dead Diva and received an Emmy nomination for her guest role on 30 Rock.
Margaret Cho: 30 Rock Emmy Nomination
Margaret Cho was nominated for an Emmy for her guest role on 30 Rock, where she portrayed the late Kim Jong-il. She said she looks just like him. If you take off her makeup and change her hair and she is him. She said her family loved her doing this. They are from both North and South Korea and they struggled and had a lot of tragedy and her family has been split apart for years, so it is great to go back and do this and have a little bit of karmic retribution. She said she thinks if you are nominated for an Emmy for playing a deceased dictator, you automatically win.
Margaret Cho: Presidential Tattoos
Margaret has tattoos of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln on her knees and Ben Franklin on her back. She said she wanted to be her own one-man band and she was going to put knee cymbals in between her legs and they could bang their heads together and keep the beat.
Magaret Cho: New Comedy Tour
Margaret Cho is on a new comedy tour called Mother and it is based on her mother. She has always made jokes about her in her routine and has been making jokes about her since she was a child, so she thought she would do a whole show about it. Her father was a jokewriter in Korea, so she is carrying on the family tradition.
Margaret Cho: Drop Dead Diva
Margaret stars on Drop Dead Diva on Lifetime. She said she loves it and said they are in their fourth season and would love to have Kathie Lee and Hoda on. Margaret said they can be Charlie’s Angels. They have had great guest stars, like Kim Kardashian and Patty Duke. Really great roles for women.
