Sunday, June 2, the drama is back with the premiere of Real Housewives of New Jersey. Theresa, Melissa, Jacqueline, Caroline, and Kathy joined Kathie Lee and Hoda to talk about where they left off last season and what’s to come in the new season.

Last season, we had left the housewives in the midst of a blow out between Teresa and Melissa, who hadn’t spoken to one another for more than a year. They said that the premiere of season five will pick up where they left off and show their journey to where they are now. “We’re in a good place right now,” Teresa said. She also said that the freeze-out was hard because Melissa is married to her brother, so when she was not speaking to or seeing Melissa for a year, she hadn’t seen or spoken to her brother for that long either.

RHONJ: Jacqueline’s Son’s Autism Diagnosis

During season four of Real Housewives of New Jersey, we saw Jacqueline’s young son regressing and his parents not knowing the cause. Jacqueline said that shortly after the season stopped airing, he was diagnosed with Autism. She said that now her family’s main focus is her 4-year-old son’s health, and the show has helped them deal with the diagnosis. She said that being on television during this time will bring awareness to Autism and it’s also resulted in help, support and treatment options given by others.

Today Show: Is Real Housewives Fake?

Caroline addressed the crazy dynamic between the housewives and their families and the history that is there between all of them. “People like to poke fun at our show and I look at it differently. I think we’re a show that you can really learn from,” she said. Caroline also said that they are just American families like everyone else and she said, “I defy anyone to say they don’t have the same issues in their lives.”
