Willie Geist, host of MSNBC’s Way Too Early, gave advice from men on viewer questions about dirty dishes in the sink, the mother-in-law & more.

When do boys start to act like men?

Willie Geist said not until they have children. Even after they get married, they are still spending time with the guys, but once they have a kid they run into the brick wall of reality. Geist said they start thinking long term and I better get a job that will provide for this small child.

The Other View: Mother-In-Law Advice

My mother-in-law often makes comments about what I’m doing and saying. When I confront my husband, he says I am taking it the wrong way. How can I express to him that I take these things personally?

Willie Geist said this is a good one because it happens to a lot of people. Geist said your husband needs to do a better job of being the relay man. At the core of this, you need to respond to it in the moment. Just because she is your mother-in-law she doesn’t mean she has any power over you. Talk to her the way the same way you talk to another woman. Say I don’t like to be told how to raise my children. Open the lines of communication. Tone is good, but don’t let it fester. You show you’re weak early, you’re in trouble.

The Other View: Men Asking For Directions (Or Lack Thereof)

Why don’t men ask directions when they’re lost?

Willie Geist said they won’t admit they’re lost. Geist said this is why GPS was created…because of men. Men are a boom to economy with their inability to ask for directions. Geist said it’s a pride issue. Men know they don’t know where they are going, but if they admit they don’t know they have lost something in the relationship. Geist said men will never admit it.

Advice From Men: Dirty Dishes In The Sink

Why does my husband continue to put his bowl in the sink and not rinse it after I tell him it doesn’t dry in there, so how can I get him to stop doing this?

Willie Geist said if you are leaving your bowl in the sink, this goes back to a boy being a man. Geist said to put it in the dishwasher. If they don’t put it in the dishwasher, Geist said leave it there and let his dishes pile up. Doing this will save the dishes and save your relationship.
