For those families looking for a last minute vacation, Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb talked with Laura Begley Bloom, Deupty Editor at Travel + Leisure Magazine, as she gave her top five destination picks for last minute family vacations.
Last Minute Family Vacations: #1 – San Diego, CA
Laura suggested the San Diego Rancho Bernardo Inn for $219/night, which includes a Welcome Bucket with toys and activities for the kids. It is located close to Lego Land and the San Diego Zoo for kids. They do pizza parties and smores and treasure hunts.
Last Minute Family Vacations: #2 – Tuscon, AZ
Laura suggested Westward Look Wyndham Grand Resort for $79/night for five nights or $69/night for seven nights. It includes horses with wranglers for the kids and telescopes to watch the stars at night. They also have a hummingbird and butterfly garden.
Last Minute Family Vacations: #3 – Telluride, CO
Laura suggested the Fairmont Franz Klammer Lodge for $250/night. You get to stay in a two- or three-bedroom residence and they throw in stuff for the kids, like an eco-adventure class or cooking class, and great access to the town.
Last Minute Family Vacations: #4 – Orlando, FL
Laura suggested the Sheraton Buena Vista for $168/night. She said you have Disney right in your backyard. It includes a full day at the pool cabana with a pool captain to do things with the kids, like limbo classes and bingo. They offer shuttles to Disney and discounts on spa treatments for Mom.
Last Minute Family Vacations: #5 St. Maarten
Laura suggested the Sonesta Maho Beach Resort for $290/night. She said this is all-inclusive and includes all your food, snacks and drinks. Kids program where they will take you on scavenger hunts and treasure hunts. They can also do massages and manicures for the kids and it is five minutes from the airport.
