Kathie Lee & Hoda: Elvis Duran’s Artist of the Month – A Great Big World

KLG & Hoda: Great Big World This is the New Year & Dessert Taste Test

Kathie Lee and Hoda discussed how to freshen up some classic desserts.

National radio host Elvis Duran has been bringing the biggest up and coming artists to Kathie Lee and Hoda and today he brought A Great Big World with him.

The two bandmates, Ian, who played the piano, and Chad, who sang, said they met at New York University and started playing together. They also write all their own music and the song they performed on the show today, “This is the New Year,” was even featured on Glee recently.

When they got the call to be on the Today Show, Chad said he almost fainted while Ian was a bit more eloquent.

“I feel like I’m living in a dream world,” said Ian, to which Kathie Lee said that would be a good song title. I would have to agree.

Despite Kid Rock being on the show today, the two musicians were pretty sober looking.

Either way, they did an awesome job. The song was really good and you could hear their Broadway influences in the way they worded the lyrics and arranged their melodies together. I kind of wish they had some more harmonies though. I liked how their voices sounded together.

Kathie Lee & Hoda: Dessert Taste Test

Kathie Lee and Hoda had a dessert taste testing segment on the show but it kind of evolved into Hoda just munching on all the desserts on the table. They did offer some ways to spice up some store bought items if you don’t have the time to cook them at home:

  • Pound cake – Cut the cake into squares and put them in a mason jar with some ice cream, some caramel and some berries.
  • Lemon squares – Simply sprinkle them with some confectioner’s sugar to make them look like they are homemade.
