Rob Van Winkle: Vanilla Ice
He is known as Vanilla Ice to most of us, but his actual name is Rob Van Winkle and he joins Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb in the studios today to talk about starring in Adam Sandler’s new movie, That’s My Boy, his DIY Network show, The Vanilla Ice Project, and his Looxcie Review of the new tech gadget.

Released in 1990, “Ice Ice Baby” is over two decades old, but will forever be a song for everyone to enjoy. “Ice Ice Baby” was the first hip hop single to top the Billboard charts. While Rob Van Winkle had success with that song, no other songs made it as big and some come him the one-hit wonder.
Rob Van Winkle: Looxcie Review
Rob Van Winkle comes into The Today Show studio and seems to be wearing a bluetooth. What he is wearing is called a Looxsie, which is a wear-and-share video cam with live video streaming. The device is a bluetooth, but it is the world’s first handsfree, wear-and-share video cam that lets you share clips instantly or stream live video. It can record up to 10 hours of video.
Rob Van Winkle: That’s My Boy
Rob Van Winkle is now venturing into the acting business and he has a supporting role in Adam Sandler’s movie, That’s My Boy. This is a full supporting role in the movie and not a cameo shot of Vanilla Ice.
Rob Van Winkle took the role after Adam Sandler called him up after his wife suggested getting Rob Van Winkle for the movie. They watch The Vanilla Ice Project on DIY Network. Rob took the role with no acting classes. He says he had Adam Sandler and he knows how to bring the best out of you. Rob says Adam is a super nice guy, a family guy and easy to get along with. That’s My Boy opens in theaters on June 15 2012.

In 2009, Rob Van Winkle began hosting a reality show, The Vanilla Ice Project, on DIY Network. On the show, Rob Van Winkle and his crew of contractors get down to business and renovate a different room of a 7,000-square-foot Palm Beach mansion. He’ll pound nails and call the shots in this room-by-room renovation and showcase state-of-the-art technologies. They just signed on for Season 3, which will air in 2013.
