Kathie Lee & Hoda: Matthew Perry Interview
You knew him as Chandler Bing on NBC’s hit comedy sitcom Friends, but now Matthew Perry returns to the network in a new comedy series called Go On. Kathie Lee and Hoda were joined by Matthew, who talked about the new show and his time on Friends.
Matthew Perry: Go On Review
Matthew Perry plays Ryan King, who is a widowed sports radio host forced to go to group therapy where he meets some interesting people. Kathie Lee said they didn’t know what to expect and it is a difficult thing to pull off. It is a grieving therapy session and everyone has their issues, but you make it hysterical funny and moving. Kathie Lee said you can tell he is in his element.
Hoda said the writing is great and the timing is clever. Matthew said that is the great thing. That is the one thing he wanted to know and Friends was such a collaborative thing and he didn’t want it to be different on this show.
Matthew Perry: Go On Cast
He said they are really funny and happy to be there. They play a game called March Sadness and they compare who has the saddest story, like March Madness. He said he likes all elements of the show because he plays a sports deejay and they have real athletes come on the show, but he likes the touchy feely aspect as well. Terrell Owens is in the first one, but we will also see Chris Bosh, Bob Costas and Jeremy Roenick.
Matthew Perry: Friends
Matthew said that is the beauty of it. Time has changed so much that you can’t even compare it to Friends. Fifty million people watched the finale and that’s not going to happen. He said Friends was before air conditioning and heat.
