Kathie Lee & Hoda: Jennifer Esposito Playing With Fire Review
Jennifer Esposito, best known for her role in Crash, told Kathie Lee and Hoda she is opening a new gluten-free bakery in New York City, and she is going to be filming a reality show in the bakery as well. She said her new reality show, Playing With Fire, will follow her as she tries to start a bakery in New York City and the hardships that come with running a business.
Esposito said she had pitched a few ideas for shows about gluten allergies and celiac disease, but none of the networks picked it up. So she decided to focus more on the food than on people who have gluten allergies.
Kathie Lee & Hoda: Jennifer Esposito Celiac Disease
Esposito isn’t just opening a gluten-free bakery because she feels like it. Esposito has had celiac disease her entire life, although she never had any idea until a few years ago. She said she was feeling sick all the time, her hair started to fall out and she even lost a tooth due to celiac disease, an autoimmune disorder in the intestine.
She said it took her so long to figure out what was wrong because doctors couldn’t figure it out, and she had watched her mother go through the same type of pain. She told Kathie Lee and Hoda she thought it was normal to feel that way. She thought she just had a weak stomach or a delicate immune system.
Kathie Lee & Hoda: Symptoms Of Celiac Disease
Kathie Lee asked what the symptoms of celiac disease are so other people can know when they need to see the doctor, but Esposito said the symptoms vary for everyone. She said the best way to find out if you have celiac disease is to get a biopsy of the small intestine.
She said for her, the disease is so severe she has to use gluten-free makeup and shampoo because if gluten touches her skin it makes the area start to burn very badly.
