Nicole Richie stopped by the fourth hour of the Today Show to talk with Kathie Lee and Hoda, but first they wanted to know everything she was wearing while on the show. She had on a pair of Balenciaga shoes, J Brand leather pants, a Stella McCartney top and a Rick Owns long, black jacket.

After checking out her stellar outfit, the hosts wanted to know all about the second season of Fashion Star.
Richie said she is one of three celebrity fashion mentors on the show, which pits designers against each other and challenges them to create designs they can sell to Macy’s, Saks Fifth Avenue and Express. Each week the contestants are limited on time and materials as they try to sell one of their products to the companies in the hopes of winning the whole competition, with the winner getting a capsule collection worth $6 million in each of the stores, something Richie said has never been done before.
“I’ve never even had a capsule collection in any of those stores,” Richie said.

With so many fashion-based reality shows out there, Richie said Fashion Stars has set itself apart from the crowd by offering all the designs bought during the show as actual items people can buy at home. Richie said viewers will be able to see all the designs during the show and the next day they can purchase the designs from the specific store’s website.

Richie said she just got back from Paris Fashion Week this morning and she had a blast. She turned her mini vacation in a girl’s trip and invited all her friends to go with her to Paris. She said they all set up cots in the hotel room and had a big slumber party.
Kathie Lee & Hoda: Where Does Nicole Richie Get Her Sense Of Style?
Kathie Lee and Hoda wanted to know where Richie gets her sense of style, and she told them it comes from her father’s costume designer. Richie said when she was younger and on tour with her father, his costume designer, Edna, would make matching outfits for Richie and her father. Richie said it was then that her love for fashion started but it fully bloomed when she was eight-years-old and started designing her own outfits for figure skating.
