Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb are joined in the studio by Mabes Morrill, who is a 91 year old yoga instructor from Dover, Delaware.
91 Year Old Yoga Instructor Mabes Morrill
At 91, Mabes Morrill is still going strong and has been teaching yoga for over 40 years now. She says to honor your body and your body will honor you. Mabes is from Dover, Deleware, where she is a yoga instructor.
In 1969, she was living in Venezuela and had a bad case of arthritis and a guru taught her yoga. Mabes didn’t have money to pay her, so the guru told her as payment to take yoga home to her country. So, for over 40 years Mabes has been teaching it and hasn’t taken any payments.
Kathie Lee & Hoda: Downward Dog
During the Downward Dog pose, you build up strength in the upper arms and you give space and opening in the back, neck, chest, hips and shoulders. If you let your ankles sink nicely to the floor, you stretch the calves at the same time. In yoga, this pose is often used as an exercise in between other exercises, but it is in fact an exercise in itself.
- Up with an elegant stretch
- Feet about 2′ apart
- Touch your toes
- Walk flat hand out so butt is in the air.
- Walk back
- Another elegant stretch
Kathie Lee & Hoda: The Blow Of An Ax
The Blow of an Ax will help you fight fatigue and exercise the hip, back and abdomen.
- In a standing position with feet apart, join the thumbs and crossing hands (one above the other). Place them at crotch. Inhale slowly and deeply.
- At the same time, raise your arms completely straight above your head, until the body is completely vertical.
- Now smash the ax down and put hands through legs and head placed by the knees.
Kathie Lee & Hoda: Body Painter Danny Setiawan
Kathie Lee & Hoda are joined by Sara Haines, as she takes a look at jobs you probably didn’t even know existed. Sara talked with Danny Setiawan, who works as a body painter at a studio at DEN|ART NY. Danny paints pictures on arms, backs, breasts and more for anyone willing to show off his or her assets.
The painting takes around two hours to complete and he knows he is done when the customer approves. The paint easily washes off, so he takes photos to preserve the painting. The paintings start at $200.
