Cassie Kelm won the Everyone Has a Story contest by writing in the Kathie Lee and Hoda. In her letter, she says:

“My name is Cassie Jo Kelm…I’m writing to you about my son AJ. He is seven years old and he has a rare form of epilepsy called Lennox-Gastaut syndrome. It is so rare they are still having a hard time understanding it. He is currently on three medications that are supposed to help him. He can have anywhere from 2 to 10 seizures a day. Every seizure is different each time. He can’t do anything alone. Everyday is a challenge for him as he cannot play outside. I’ve been going above and beyond trying to find help for him so he can be a regular boy. He has had a hard time learning…I love my AJ so much, I won’t give up on trying to find help for him. I’m no hero, but I’m desperately searching for help to help my son. He is my hero, and I would do anything for him. I’m his number one fan.”

Kathie Lee & Hoda: AJ’s Song “For You” & Jessie Mueller

Cassie said AJ’s big sister is a big help, and his father is said they’re taking each day at a time. Kathie Lee and Hoda invited Broadway performer Jessie Mueller to perform a special song just for AJ, called “For You.”
