Kathie Lee & Hoda: Great Places For Fall Colors
It is time for Today’s Travel and the ladies took us to some of the country’s most colorful and glorious highways and mountain roads. Kathie Lee and Hoda talked with Arabella Bowen, Executive Editorial Director at Fodor’s Travel, who shared some of the best places for fall colors, including Cooperstown, NY, Grand Mesa, CO and Black Hills, SD.
Fall Foliage: Green Mountain Byway, VT
She said the colors have started in Vermont and will continue through October. We should have a more colors because of the weather we had in the spring. She said lots of maples out there along with that classic red. They have rolling hills and mountains.
Fall Colors: Cooperstown, NY
Arabella said this is a great destination if you are into beer and baseball. They have the Baseball Hall of Fame there and also the Ommegang Brewery, which is on a beautiful setting so you can go in and taste the beer and check out the colors.
Fall Destinations: Blue Ridge Mountains in Asheville, NC
Kathie Lee said it is gloriously beautiful there. Arabella said it is beautiful and you can see the spectrum of colors there. She said there is the Blue Ridge Parkway, which allows you to hike it or drive it and check out the colors.
Fall Colors: Grand Mesa, CO
Arabella said you can actually go up a chair lift and see all of the fall foliage there. She said it is a wonderful experience and the area is full of great lakes, so lots of wildlife. There are lots of yellows there.
Fall Foliage: Peter Norbeck Scenic Byway in Black Hills, SD
Arabella said it is gorgeous and you get to see Mt. Rushmore in the fall and framed with all those yellow leaves and fewer crowds because the kids are back in school. Kathie Lee said Crazy Horse is an amazing place to check out there as well.
Fall Destinations: Columbia River in Gorge, OR
Arabella said it is a great romantic destination. The first scenic highway was built here, so it is great for drivers to check out. You can veer off and go on this great road called the Fruitloop.
