Today’s Style: Making New Outfits Out Of Old Clothes
Kathie Lee and Hoda had Today’s Style and making new outfits from things you already own. The ladies were joined by Michelle McCool, Fashion Director at Cosmopolitan Magazine, who shared tips on how to add a few things to something you already own and making a brand new outfit.
Michelle McCool: Four Basics Every Woman Owns
She said she is going to take the four basics women own and are sick of wearing and she is going to make them cool and make you want to wear them again. The four basics are: sweatshirt, chambray shirt, white blouse and skinny black pants.
Recycle Clothes: Sweatshirt
Michelle said they cut off the neck, if you are tired of that crew look. She suggested pairing it with metallic skinny pants or leggings to make it more sporty. She also bumped it up a notch and made it into something you could wear out at night. Same cut to the crew neck sweatshirt, but wear it with a lace dress or pencil skirt to give it a more stylish feel to it.
Recycling Clothes: White Blouse
Michelle paired it with leather shorts, which are a big trend this season for going out, and a tuxedo jacket. She said if you are wearing something as short as the shorts, then you want to wear something boxy and manly on top. She also paired the white blouse with skinny jeans and did this half-tuck thing with the shirt, which she said is great if you want to hide your booty.
Reuse Clothes: Skinny Black Pants
Michelle said you can take the skinny pants and pair it with a concert t-shirt and wear it out at night. She also gave it an equestrian look, which with the skinny jeans it is easy to wear a boot with them. She added a jacket and white blouse to complete the look.
Recycled Clothes: Chambray Shirt
Michelle said just pair it with some jeans and it is a go-to weekend outfit when you don’t know what to wear. She said it is okay to wear denim on denim, which is a great trend right now. She said you can also take a chambray shirt to work by wearing it with a pencil skirt or flare skirt.
