The Voice: Orlando Dixon
Berkeley graduate Orlando Dixon grew up with just his mom and his sister. He said that growing up without his father cost him a lot of self-esteem. He’s since made up with his father. Orlando is now working as a wedding singer. He hopes to make it on The Voice and be able to buy his mother a house.
Orlando sang “So Sick” and it was great. Usher waited until the last possible second to buzz in for Orlando, giving him the advantage and making it a shoo-in for Team Usher. Usher liked Orlando’s tone and sees potential in him. He called Orlando a “diamond in the rough” and wants to push him to the next level of talent. He sees a winner in Orlando.
The Voice: Savannah Berry
Savannah Berry may be one of the youngest people in the competition, but she’s got one of the biggest voices we’ve heard yet. Savannah got to sing with Sugarland and puts YouTube videos of her performances up in attempt to get more chances to perform. She decided to be home schooled so she could go after her music career.
Savannah performed “Safe and Sound” in the style of The Civil Wars. Adam, Shakira and Blake turned for her.
“And I would be the only idiot that didn’t hit my button,” Usher said. He still loved Savannah’s voice. I think it was clear who she was going to choose and Usher didn’t stand a chance.
Savannah said her influences are Sugarland and Miranda Lambert. Blake loved that and pointed out that he is married to Miranda Lambert. He said he is fascinated by her voice. Shakira fought dirty. As a new judge she said that Adam and Blake are deaf after three seasons. She asked Savannah to think about a new direction. Adam fought back and told Savannah to think about the fact that he turned first for her. It really was no contest. Savannah joined Team Blake.
