The Voice: Holly Tucker
College student Holly Tucker has always known that music was her passion. She performs in the Baylor University marching band where she is just one in hundreds on the field. She said she loves singing because it’s her time to shine. Holly and her parents perform in a trio at Opry houses around Texas. She loves performing with her parents, but she is ready to stand out on her own on The Voice.
Holly sang “To Make You Feel My Love.” It only took a few notes for Adam, Shakira and Usher to pound the button. Blake surprisingly took a little longer. He said he was trying to figure out what she wanted with the song. Holly reminds me of a young LeAnn Rimes, young, fresh and destined to be a country power player.
I couldn’t put it any better than Adam, “Cowboy boots mean one thing: we gotta fight Blake.” The judges had to prove to this country lover that they could give her something in the competition. It probably all fell on deaf ears when Blake said he wanted her. Holly joined Team Blake.
The Voice: Landon Medvec
I personally enjoyed Landon Medvec. His audition was his “first gig.” He makes a living as a professional mover and wants to move into professional musician. He doesn’t live in a strong area for music, so Landon came to The Voice.
Landon sang “You Give Me Something.” This song by James Morrison is performed in a raspy voice. Raspy can either be a big hit, or a huge flop. I thought Landon’s voice was exceptional, but the judges didn’t listen to me on this one. Landon wasn’t chosen for a team, but was encouraged to come back with a different song. Adam thought the song was too much an impression of Morrison. Usher and Blake didn’t realize that Landon was a man, they assumed his voice was female. Better luck next time, Landon.
The Voice: Michelle Chamuel
If you buy one of the iTunes singles for The Voice this week, you need Michelle Chamuel. She’s an introvert representing the nerd crowd. Just imagine Amy Farrah Fowler from The Big Bang Theory singing in a rock band. It’s epic.
Michelle sang “I Kissed A Girl.” The Katy Perry styling turned into a harder rock. Adam, Shakira and Usher buzzed in for her. Shakira said she loved her fierceness, but I think Adam was charmed by her uniqueness. Michelle said something in her was pulling her toward Team Usher. Let’s see if she made the right choice!
