The View: Daphne Oz
The ladies from The View had an early lunch with Daphne Oz from ABC’s cooking chat show, The Chew. Oz is the author of a new book called Relish, and she wanted to share some lunchtime favorites with audiences.
The View: Daphne Oz Relish Review
Daphne’s book is full of recipes that she said cannot fail. “They’re my go-to, everyday recipes. …I went to extra efforts to make sure…anyone can make them and love them,” Oz said.
She added that Relish is about making the most of life, and that extends beyond the kitchen to style, relationships, and your career as well.
The View: Grapefruit Thyme Spritzer Recipe
Barbara Walters loved the Grapefruit Thyme Spritzer, a cocktail recipe that can be found in the book. It has grapefruit juice, lemon juice, seltzer water, and thyme simple syrup.
The View: Chili Jam Chicken Recipe
Daphne also shared her Chili Jam Chicken with The View hosts. She said it is a great weeknight recipe because it is so easy to make. She recommended using bone-in chicken to infuse moisture. Chili jam will create a crisp glaze during cooking.
You can use oil to cook the chicken or let it baste in its own fat in the oven.
The View: Five Fruit Mini Crumble Dessert
Combine favorite fruits such as apples, raspberries, strawberries, and rhubarb for a warm, delicious dessert. It is sweet, but most of that is coming from the natural sugars in the fruit flavors.
The View: Roasted Cauliflower Grilled Cheese
Caramelized onions and roasted cauliflower come together for Daphne’s version of a grilled cheese sandwich, which she said was her favorite recipe from the book. You can use less cheese because of the other ingredients, and that means more bang for your buck and fewer calories at the same time.
The View: Grilled Caesar Salad Recipe
Daphne Oz explained that she took new approaches to her favorite recipes, to spice them up, simplify them, or maybe make them a bit more healthy. She also shared a grilled Caesar salad, using a dairy-free dressing.
Slivered almonds, capers, sunflower seeds, and lemon juice were among her secret ingredients. She also used Nutritional Yeast in the dressing recipe, which she said you can also add to popcorn for nutrient benefits.
Olive oil, salt, and pepper were also included in the dairy-free dressing. Daphne warmed the lettuce on the grill and served the dressing on full leaves.
The View: Daphne Oz Diet
Daphne shared a few of her secrets to staying skinny. She said she tries to eat two bites of everything she wants, so she isn’t depriving herself. She also plans ahead and chooses when to indulge on her absolute favorites.
You can get all these fun recipes from Daphne Oz’s brand new book, Relish.
